Diabetes

A condition that impairs the body’s ability to process blood
glucose is diabetes. Common terms used for it are ‘Madhumeh’ and ‘sugar’. Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic
disorders characterized by a high blood sugar level over a prolonged period of
time.
Metabolic disorders happen in the body when abnormal one or more chemical processes alter the common metabolic functions of the body.
Types of Diabetes
Let us look at some common types of diabetes:
1. Type I diabetes
It is also known as juvenile
diabetes. Generally, insulin production is completely absent in patients of
type I diabetes. Such patients are dependent on external insulin.
2. Type II diabetes
It is also known as Adult - Onset Diabetes. Insulin production may be
low in quantity and quality or cells of the body may not be sensitive enough towards
insulin. Both conditions can co-occur in type II diabetes.
3. Prediabetes
In this condition, blood sugar level is higher than normal but is not
high enough to be classified as Type-2 diabetes.
4. Gestational diabetes
This type of diabetes develops in pregnant women. If controlled and
managed properly, 90 % of women with gestational diabetes revert to normal
blood sugar post-delivery.
Symptoms of Diabetes
The common symptoms of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus
include:
The 3 Ps-
· Polyuria or Frequent urination
A person suffering from diabetes has more than the usual urge to urinate.
Diabetics have a tendency to have excessive
thirst. Mostly this symptom accompanied by increased urination and increased
appetite guides a doctor to get you tested for diabetes.
· Polyphagia or Increased appetite
There is a sudden and strong sensation of hunger felt many times a day in diabetes. Whenever you experience increased appetite and sudden urges to eat, do consult a doctor as this may not be a disease in itself but can be a symptom of an underlying disease.

The other symptoms include-
·
Weakness:
Uncontrolled or undiagnosed diabetes
can become the reason for prolonged weakness.
·
Dry mouth and itchy skin: Since the body uses
more liquid in peeing, your mouth and skin can get dehydrated. Dry skin can
become the reason for itchy skin.
·
Blurred vision: Since the fluid level in your
body changes, it can make your lenses swell. Change in the shape of the eye lens makes
it difficult for you to focus.
·
Infections, mainly fungal and yeast infections:
Fungi and yeast feed on glucose. Plenty of glucose in the body makes it easier for the fungi and yeast to thrive. Moist and warm folds of skin such as between fingers and toes, under breasts, in or around sex organs give a very favorable environment for the yeast to thrive.

Diabetes is already making you lazy. Don’t find another reason for not
exercising. Go out for a walk or do mild to moderate exercise for 30 minutes
each day.

Get your blood sugar checked every month. Get your HBA, C checked
every 4 to 6 months. If you have been advised to check your blood sugar daily

eyes done on time.

mind, a homeopathic doctor can prescribe homeopathic remedies that can

and limit the bad effects of diabetes and allopathic medicines on organs such
